This year the CSP’s annual clinical conference has morphed into something quite different.
Instead of the UK-wide event, the society is hosting a conference for the European Region of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy, or ER-WCPT (that’s the European Region of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy).
Some 160 speakers will be in Liverpool from 11-12 November, coming from all over Europe – and some from even further afield. There will be more than 350 poster presentations of the work and research being carried out by physio staff worldwide. There’s an amazing programme of symposia, discussion groups and short presentations, known as ‘rapid fives’ (short presentations of five minutes each, followed by the chance to talk to the presenters).
There’s never been a better opportunity to experience an international training, CPD and networking event on your own doorstep.
Members of the special interest group for physios dealing with women’s health issues – (POGP, or pelvic, obstetric and gyneacological physiotherapy) are holding their own event there the day before. On page 24 we illustrate the need for all physios to be aware of the special issues around women’s health.
And let’s not forget the closing contribution to the event from physio Elaine Miller – who’s taken an interesting slant on the whole issue, in a stand-up routine at the Edinburgh Festival. She’ll be speaking on the benefits of humour in clinical practice. After all, it never does to take ourselves too seriously!
Wish you could be there? It’s not too late. See page 34.
