The CSP is using Older People’s Day 2021 on Friday (1 October) to promote the importance of the physiotherapy profession in improving the lives of older people, particularly in preventing deconditioning in the age of Covid-19.
Physiotherapy plays a vital role in supporting older people to remain active, prevent deconditioning and in preventing and reducing falls.
This year, the CSP has renewed its Stay Active at Home animation with a new introduction from fitness star Diana Moran aka The Green Goddess, which features six simple exercises older people can do to remain active, build strength and prevent deconditioning.
We need your help to share this animation as much as possible on social media this Older People's Day - here are the things you can do to support the campaign, promote the profession and help support older patients and their carers:
On Twitter, please re-tweet and like the @thecsp tweet which will be tagged #OlderPeoplesDay this Friday 1 October..
You may also wish to include in your re-tweet @mentions of other patient bodies and charities in your area to help spread the word (such as your Trust or employer's Twitter account, your local Healthwatch branch, your local newspaper and your local council). To do this just select the re-tweet symbol and then select 'quote tweet' which will then give you the chance to add in your own @mentions and any other message you want to include.
The #OlderPeoplesDay post with the animation will be posted on the CSP Facebook page on 1 October. Please like, comment and share this post on your Facebook profile - it is a good post to share with friends and family as all will benefit from hearing how to do the key strengthening exercises.
Your actions on social media will make a big difference, yet will only take a couple of minutes of your time so please support and help us spread the word this Older People's Day.
