A conference for you

We’ve listened to members and are developing a conference for later this year which will be more inspiring than ever, as Ruth ten Hove explains

Building on our approach of organising a national, in-person Annual Conference – re-established last year in Manchester – the CSP will be taking the conference on the road over the next three years, first to Wales, then to Scotland and finally to Northern Ireland.

This year it will be held in Newport in Wales, and our priority has been to listen to insight from members to inform and deliver a conference that meets your needs. We’ll be ensuring there’s more opportunities for discussion, peer-to-peer learning and networking between delegates.

While the conference is a national event, the content will be reflective of its location. This year, the conference will focus on some of the population around Newport, which is particularly affected by high levels of deprivation and long-term conditions. We’ve partnered with the relevant professional networks to deliver best-in-class content on these issues.

We’re also keen to broaden the range of members who feel they can participate in the conference, so we’re also broadening the type of content which members can showcase – including case reports and service examples, rather than just the formal scientific abstracts that have been showcased in previous years.

Support from the CSP will also be available to help shape these examples, with guidance on how to engage members at the conference – through a discussion group rather than a presentation, for instance – and we’re opening up a route too, for these sessions to be recorded and shared subsequently in the Physiotherapy journal, giving members a permanent record of their contribution, invaluable for their future career.
